UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A suicide bomber has attacked a cricket stadium in Afghanistan’s capital, leaving at least three dead and others wounded.
The attacker detonated the bomb while trying to enter the match at the Kabul International Cricket Stadium on Sept. 13.
According to Reuters, the Interior Ministry spokesperson said the blast killed two police officers and one civilian.
The Associated Press reported a Health Ministry official said at least 12 people, including two children, were injured.
A statement in Bosnian on the Islamic State-affiliated news source Amaq reported an attack against security forces in Kabul, but it’s unclear whether or not it refers to the attack at the cricket stadium.
Cricket teams with international players were competing in the fifth season of the Shpageeza Cricket League. Tournament officials said all the players are safe.
The league’s season is scheduled to run until Sept. 22.
