Young Woman, 19, Found Dead in Freezer

UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A 19-year-old Chicago woman has been found dead in a hotel freezer.

The medical examiner’s office says Kenneka Jenkins was found dead early Sunday morning, Sept. 10.

Jenkins hadn’t been seen since the previous morning. Her mother, Tereasa Martin, tells reporters her daughter left home Friday for a party at the hotel in Rosemont, near O’Hare International Airport.

According to Martin, police told their family that Jenkins was spotted on surveillance video, drunk and staggering, early Saturday.

But Martin believes this was no accident. According to television station WGN, she said, “I believe someone in this hotel killed my child.”

An autopsy was performed on Sunday, but the Chicago Tribune says both the cause and manner of the 19-year-old’s death remain undetermined.

The walk-in freezer was reportedly working, but not being used to store food.

In a statement, the hotel said it will continue to cooperate with the investigation.
