UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Starting in 2020, all new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles will be electrified.
The initiative encompasses mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids and — of course — fully electric vehicles.
Jaguar Land Rover made the announcement on Thursday, Sept. 7, ahead of its inaugural Tech Fest, which runs through Sunday Sept. 10 at University of the Arts London.
The company’s using Tech Fest to show off a couple of especially sweet rides including an electric E-type, a zero-emission version of Jaguar’s iconic roadster.
Then there’s the I-PACE, which Jaguar execs are hailing as the world’s first premium performance all-electric SUV. It goes on sale next year.
Jaguar Land Rover certainly isn’t the only carmaker looking ahead to an electric future.
Also on Thursday, BMW Group announced plans to roll out 12 fully-electric models by 2025, and in July, Volvo unveiled its plans to phase out the internal combustion engine starting in 2019.
