Major TV Networks Join Forces to Broadcast Telethon for Hurricane Harvey Relief

UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — All of the major broadcast television networks in the United States are joining forces to raise money for victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The “Hand in Hand” telethon will air Sept. 12 on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC as well as CMT.

The prime time event will be based out of Los Angeles, with additional stages across the country that’ll feature some of the biggest stars from music, movies and TV. The lineup already includes names like Beyoncé, Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, George Strait and Julia Roberts.

They’ll be raising money for folks whose lives have been turned upside down by Hurricane Harvey. At least 60 deaths have been blamed on the storm since it slammed into the Texas coast on Aug. 25.

Harvey — and the more than 50 inches of rain it dumped in some spots — displaced over a million people.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott estimates recovery efforts will cost up to $180 billion.
