UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — The next time you think you’re having a bad day, just remember: you could have one leg stuck in a sinkhole.
It happened to someone Aug. 29 in Brooklyn, New York.
Stephen Suarez was crossing an intersection to return to work after his lunch break when the ground gave way and his right leg fell into a small sinkhole.
Suarez told CBS2 news, he fell straight down into the hole and landed on his tailbone and he felt a lot of pain.
He said, “I thought I was going to fall straight through the ground completely.”
One witness described the event as shocking but added, “It’s New York, anything can happen.”
Firefighters pulled Suarez out of the hole after an hour. He reportedly walked away with only one shoe and a hairline fracture.
The city patched the hole and is investigating the situation.
