Burger King Launches ‘WhopperCoin’ in Russia

UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Burger King comes up with its own take on bitcoin.

The fast food chain has launched the “WhopperCoin” in Russia.

The tokens will reward diners by allowing them to claim one coin for every ruble they spend on a signature Whopper sandwich.

Customers can receive “WhopperCoin” tokens via a digital wallet by scanning their receipts with a smartphone. Once enough tokens have been collected, they can eventually be used to buy burgers.

The coins can also be transferred and traded online, so customers can either save their rewards or sell them to new buyers.

Based on the current price of a Whopper in Russia, customers will be able to get a free sandwich for every five or six they buy with real money.

The head of external communications at Burger King Russia, Ivan Shestov says, “Now Whopper is not only a burger that people in 90 different countries love, it’s an investment tool as well.”
