UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — They say you are never too old to learn, and one granny from Thailand has proved just that.
Ninety-one-year-old Kimlan Jinakul, has completed her first bachelor’s degree. It was awarded to her by the king of Thailand on Aug. 9.
After more than ten years studying, Jinakul has a degree in Human and Family Development. According to the BBC, she picked this program because she thought it would teach her how to live a good and happy life.
Jinakul had always wanted to go to university, but she did not have the opportunities growing up to fulfill her dream. After watching four of her children get masters degrees, she eventually enrolled herself.
Jinakul credits her success to her determination and ambition. She told the BBC, “My mind is always awake and sharp for learning.”
Although she doesn’t think she will use her degree to get a job, she is happy looking after her grandchildren.
