UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A theater in Texas is trying to make amends with men after advertising women-only screenings of “Wonder Woman.”
Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas held two screenings of the film in June at its Austin location.
At the time, the company said, “Apologies, gentlemen, but we’re embracing our girl power and saying ‘no guys allowed.’”
Well, it seems advertising women-only screenings might not be in line with local law in Austin.
Alamo Drafthouse issued a letter to the city last month after two men filed a formal complaint, accusing the theater of violating non-discrimination policies.
The theater said it was wrong to advertise the screenings as women-only but said it would not have denied men who wanted to buy tickets.
It offered to change its policies, apologize on Facebook and give the men who complained free DVDs of “Wonder Woman.” An agreement has not yet been reached.
