UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Facebook wants you to spend more time on the platform, so it’s making an even bigger push into video.
On Aug. 9, the tech giant unveiled a new home for video shows on Facebook called “Watch”.
It’s for users to view original content produced exclusively for Facebook by its partners like Buzzfeed and Group Nine Media.
For now, the company says only a limited group of people in the U.S. can access this feature. But it plans to offer the experience to more people soon.
Users with access will see a TV-shaped Watch button in their bottom navigation bar that opens up the new video section.
There will be a wide range of content from live event coverage to reality TV to scripted programs.
Among the list of Facebook’s original programming available on Watch include live MLB baseball games, a Tastemade cooking show, and A&E’s “Bae or Bail” which is a reality TV game show.
