UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — U.S. President Donald Trump is directing his latest Twitter attack at a fellow Republican essential to getting almost anything done on Capitol Hill.
Trump’s taken issue with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his recent comments about Obamacare, the national health insurance law named after Trump’s predecessor.
Speaking to a Rotary Club in his home state of Kentucky, McConnell said he thinks Trump had “excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process.”
For back-to-back days, Trump’s expressed his displeasure via social media.
In his latest such tweet, on Aug. 10, Trump said, “Can you believe that Mitch McConnell, who has screamed Repeal & Replace for 7 years, couldn’t get it done.”
As it happens, The New York Times reports McConnell has been among those repeatedly encouraging the president to tweet less.
McConnell and the rest of Congress are due to return to Washington next month.
