UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Two-time NBA All-Star Zach Randolph could have made a better first impression on his new team.
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, Los Angeles police arrested the 6-foot-9 power forward and charged him with possessing marijuana with intent to sell.
The former Portland Trail Blazer and Memphis Grizzly recently signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Sacramento Kings.
He was arrested late Wednesday after police spotted a large group smoking, drinking and blocking the street. The LA Times reports a clash ensued, resulting in several police vehicles having their windows smashed and tires slashed.
Befuddled Kings fans have chimed in on Twitter, with one saying the 36-year-old is too old for this sort of thing. Another wryly expressed concern about his own fantasy basketball team.
Randolph was released Thursday morning after posting $20,000 bail. According to ESPN, his attorney calls the charges false and misleading.
