UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Colorado resident Ron Cornelius woke up Aug. 4 to an early-morning crash in his yard.
A neighbor’s car had been broken into, and rolled down the driveway, colliding with Cornelius’ mailbox.
It wasn’t until a little investigating was done, they found out the joy rider was a bear.
Bear excrement in the car confirmed the damage wasn’t caused by a human.
It’s presumed the bear bumped the gear shift out of gear, causing the vehicle to roll backward.
The bear tore off the steering wheel, ripped out the radio and shattered the rear windshield to make an escape.
The furry suspect fled the scene before officials arrived.
Cornelius joked with the Durango Herald, saying, ”Usually, I don’t get up at 5 o’clock unless there is a bear driving a car down the street.”
