UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Before you start thinking about Mike Pence as the 46th president of the United States, think again.
The current vice president denied rumors that he is working behind the scenes to run for president in 2020, calling the notion “disgraceful and offensive.”
In a statement on Aug. 6, Pence pushed aside talk that he hopes to replace President Donald Trump, saying, “The American people know that I could not be more honored to be working side by side with a president who is making America great again.”
He added that the suggestion that he’s not working solely for Trump’s agenda and re-election was “laughable and absurd.”
Pence was addressing a New York Times report, out Saturday, which claimed that he’s been hinting to party donors that he is ready to run in 2020 if Trump does not.
Trump has said repeatedly that he intends to be a two-term president.
