UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — Australian police have arrested four suspects in connection with an alleged airplane terror plot.
Police raided five properties over the weekend, arresting four men on Saturday, July 29.
ABC News reports the men have links to ISIS.
On Sunday, federal police confirmed the men are in custody but did not say they have been charged.
Authorities believe the four men were planning an attack on a commercial aircraft.
The Australian reports they planned to kill passengers and crew using a device that releases poisonous gas.
The Daily Telegraph reports the bomb was to be disguised as a meat grinder, but Australian authorities have not officially commented on the specifics of the attack.
On Monday, Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin only said they are investigating “an attempt to put a device onto an aircraft.”
He said any details beyond that are speculation.
