UNITED NEWS INTERNATIONAL (UNI) — A viral video of a shark being dragged by a speedboat has sparked shock and outrage on social media.
The video, which was first posted on July 24 to Instagram, appears to show the shark with a rope tied around its tail. Its body continuously flips and flails as the boat pulls it through the water.
At least three men are shown on the boat. At one point, one of them makes a comment about the shark being “almost dead.”
The men then reportedly took a picture of what was left of the shark.
The incident has drawn criticism and anger from both conservationists and the public.
However, it is not yet clear if what the men did was actually illegal. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident.
The FWC has not released the names of those involved.
